Cocktail 101
Classic cocktails are timeless for a reason—they've stood the test of time and remain popular for their balanced flavors and iconic status. Here’s a list of some of the classic oldies but goodies.
1. Martini
- Ingredients: Gin (or vodka), dry vermouth, lemon twist or olive
- Description: A sophisticated and simple cocktail, the martini can be tailored to your taste with varying amounts of vermouth. Garnish with a lemon twist or an olive.
Try It!
- 2 1/2 ounces (75 ml) of Gin or Vodka
- 1/2 ounce (15 ml) of dry vermouth
- Ice
- Lemon twist or olive for garnish

- 1/2 ounce of Olive Brine (for a dirty martini)
- 1/2 ounce of hot sauce for a hot an dirty martini
2. Old Fashioned
- Ingredients: Bourbon or rye whiskey, sugar cube, Angostura bitters, orange twist
- Description: A smooth and slightly sweet cocktail, the Old Fashioned is muddled with sugar and bitters, then topped with whiskey and garnished with an orange twist.
Try It!
- 2 ounces (60 ml) of bourbon or rye whiskey
- 1 sugar cube or 1/2 teaspoon of granulated sugar
- 2-3 dashes of Angostura bitters
- Ice (preferably a large cube)
- A twisted orange peel as a garnish
- Maraschino cherry (also a slight dash of cherry juice I prefer)
3. Manhattan
- Ingredients: Rye or bourbon, sweet vermouth, Angostura bitters, cherry
- Description: Known for its rich and complex flavor, the Manhattan combines whiskey with sweet vermouth and bitters, served up with a cherry.
Try It!
- 2 ounces (60 ml) of your choice of rye whiskey (or bourbon)
- 1 ounce (30 ml) of sweet vermouth
- 2-3 dashes Angostura bitters
- Ice (for stirring)
- Maraschino cherry as a garnish
- Lemon twist as an optional garnish
4. Margarita
- Ingredients: Tequila, lime juice, Cointreau or triple sec, salt (for rimming the glass)
- Description: A refreshing and tangy cocktail, the Margarita is a blend of tequila, lime juice, and orange liqueur. Served with a salted rim for an extra kick.

6. Mojito
